NCC

The college NCC unit has a glorious tradition. The cadets are busy in NCC activities through out the year The college unit of NCC has been sending cadets for  Republic Day Parade held at Delhi. The college has also been sending cadets regularly for :

  1. Annual Training Camp
  2. Hiking & Tracking  Camp
  3. National Integration Camp

During the current Session the cadets have undertaken the following activities:-

  1. 18 students of our college attended 10 days NCC camp held at Lopoke, ASR. from Nov. 21, 2008 to Nov. 30 2008.
  2. Sushil Kumar of B.A. III was adjudged as the best cadet in the camp.
  3. Sharnjeet Singh of B.A. III was conferred with the rank of under officer.
  4. Navjot Kaur of B.A. III  Year was adjudged the rank of under officer.
  5. College bagged second position in rifle shooting.
  6. 13 students (7 girls and 6 boys ) attended . 10 days camp from Jan. 31,2009 to Feb. 3,2009 at I.T.I. Batala.
  7. Our students Satwant Kaur, Kuldeep Kaur, Baljinder Kaur and Sinder Kaur of B.A. I were adjudged as the best shooter,best in drill and  best in Gidha.
  8. 11 students appeared for ‘B’ certificate exam and 12 students appeared for ‘C’ certificate exam in 2008-09.
  1. Two cadets of NCC: Lakhwinder Kaur and Sandeep Kaur have been selected in B.S.F. in 2008

Various activities are allotted to us  from time to time and the NCC cadets participate  very enthusiastically.

NSS

Unit of N.S.S in the college is very actively working under the supervision and guidance of  programme officer Prof. Paramjit Singh. Approximately 100 volunteers are in the enrolment data . Various activities were organized during session 2008-09.
Van Mahotasav was celebrated in the college campus on 25th Oct 2008. Mrs. Mohinder Gandhi , the then principal graced the occasion. About 70 plants were planted in the campus. Follow up was also done and the net result was upto the satisfaction. Two  one day special  camps were organized on 15th June 2008 and 20th Sep. 2008.NSS unit of our college always remained active in community services and social work.

College Magazine

Our college magazine `Shanti Punj` is the outcome of our students’ creativity shaped under the guidance of our worthy faculty members. We provide full opportunity to our students to test their creative writing skills and to show their knowledge and talents to the world.

Red Cross Society

College has a red cross unit which keeps an intensive medical record of all the students. This unit helps society by organizing various blood donations in need and seminars to make students aware of social problems.

Tours and Trips

Various educational tours are organized for the students for their overall development.

    • 25 students of B.A III visited science city Kapurthala under the supervision of  Prof. Jaideep Singh and Prof. Vandana Bajaj on Feb. 2009.
    • Students attended the Camp at Tara Devi  Shimla by Red Cross Unit under supervision of Prof. Jaideep Singh of Geog. Deptt. on dated 20-24 Oct. 2008 .
    • Hiking and Trekking camp – 10 students of our college attended 10 days camp organized by G.N.D.U. at Dalhousie.
    • Sixteen students of  our college attended a Hiking & Trekking camp at   Dalhousie organized by G.N.D.U. Asr.In May June ’09

     

     

EduSat

The College can boast of a well equipped Edusat lab set up by State Govt. It is a  fully hi-tech room with multimedia kit and provision for video conferencing. The students get the benefit of the scholarly lectures  telecasted from Chandigarh and Delhi .A similar 45 Days Orientation Programme for CET/PMT was conducted in the College by the State. The Lectures of  Physics ,Chemistry, Biology and Maths were telecasted live from Chandigarh. Lectures on different subjects are telecasted live from Mohali for the college students of various faculties.  The subject teacher assists the students to have a better understanding of topic through these lectures.

 

Guidance system and Placement Cell

The students of college are divided into small groups and each group is under the control of lecturer known as guidance tutor. A tutorial is held once a week in which every tutor interacts with his group. He guides the students in all aspects. We have functional Guidance and Placement cell for the further help of students. The students are guided regarding different  vistas open to them according to their capabilities. Various career counselling  seminars are organized from time to time for the guidance of students.
